I was a bit skeptical about ordering the Surface Pro 6 (8GB RAM, 2.6GHz i5, Windows 10 Home) due to the size to performance ratio. I didn't think that such a small device could be as functional as a laptop or PC. That applies to everything I do. I'm not a gamer (I think that's what consoles are for), but I'll include some of the programs I use that work better on this Surface Pro 6 than my old PC (Asus MAXIMUS V GENE). Z77, i7-3770, 16GB DDR3, Corsair 256 SSD, Windows 10 Ultimate). Programs: MacXHD Video Converter, ConvertXtoDVD, Adobe Photoshop CS5, AutoCAD 2019 and Inventor 2019. I have a fanless Surface and haven't experienced any overheating when running intensive programs like video conversion, DVD burning (with external, USB stick DVD) or when using Inventor to create 3D assemblies. A 12-inch screen is certainly sufficient for web surfing and simple tasks, but I use a 24-inch monitor when working via the mini display port. For longer use, I would recommend the Surface Pen for tablet and mouse. . The Surface Keyboard for the Surface Series is all I need, but if you prefer you can just use any Bluetooth keyboard. I leave the power cord plugged in while I work and the battery exceeds my needs when used as a portable device. I haven't measured how often it drains, so I can't comment on battery consumption under load. The only thing I can complain about is the lack of USB C, but that's not a problem since I don't have any USB C devices.
