PERFECT for fighting fish. Quiet and the current does not blow the tap through the aquarium. Bought one to try, liked it so ordered a few more for my other betta tanks. The media bay has LOTS of room to pack your media of choice. I put a sponge on the bottom, a filter thread in the middle and a piece of natural sponge on top of the filter thread. The current is good but the rooster doesn't bother - it even swam in the filter lol. The price is right too. I don't know how long it will last, but at this price? I'm fine with having to buy a replacement from time to time. I've been looking for a good beta filter with a large media compartment and low consumption for a long time. It's perfect for me and my aquariums. I run it entirely submerged - I'm not worried about breaching the water surface as I use air stone pumps in all my tanks. Sponge filters are really good for bettas, but I have nano aquariums and sponge filters take up too much space in such a small tank. This filter is exactly what I needed for my betta tanks. Also, the suction cups are REALLY STRONG. Such a simple thing, but many other filters fail miserably.
