Review on Hamilton Safety Collar Bell Pink by Angela Wash

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Regular collar with narrow elastic for "security "

I was expecting more security than the narrow cord-like elastic that connects the two pieces behind the collar so the cat can slip out of the collar if something is out is catches it. I took a chance and hoped there was more to the collar than the blurry photo showed and was disappointed to see that although it was nylon it was identical to the leather collar that nearly choked my cat . The lower fang got caught in the ring with my cat's microchip tag and if it had happened during the night I wouldn't have woken up and been around to free it. The struggle to get this was so intimidating that I bought a nylon collar, expecting it would somehow fall apart, but all the pieces are sewn tight. So instead of buying a third collar, I spent a lot of time undoing the very small ring that the bell attaches to to fit my cat's tag and closing it tight enough to avoid loss and further accidents to prevent. The collar, which cost more than my cat's leather collar, took a lot of work. Update: December 29, 2015 --- This collar is dangerous for my cat. I re-tightened the collar and tonight while he was washing he hooked the bottom canine back into the narrow elastic band area, just like before, so I threw it away. No amount of work that goes into making it wearable is worth the suffering it causes us both.
