I bought this unit to replace the 25 foot or so end of an HDMI cable with a single wall plate.The original setup had four more feet of HDMI cable and one more wall plate.I stream video and audio from a multimedia PC to a wall mounted flat screen TV. The first implementation had some signal quality issues. I rerouted everything to cut out the HDMI wall jack and short cable to get acceptable performance. As part of the Troubleshooting what turned out to be a graphics card issue, I replaced a wall mounted HDMI cable with this converter, using a Category 5e cable used which I already had in my trash box. It was easy to install as I had already drilled all the holes for the routing and cable to run the new wires through. Connections were easy with the included wire stripper and clear markings on the back of the wall panels. The installation was an immediate success, returning to its original uncluttered appearance with wall panels at either end of the cable run. I might as well tell myself that the new setup is a little better than the previous one, but just by observation the change is pretty small. Since the main problem wasn't the cable, the main benefit for me is the neat looks and the fact that after a simple installation it worked straight away.
