I ordered this dress a size up as it is not the usual size for an 8 1/2 year old. she is almost 5 feet tall. Quality: I was very impressed with the quality of this dress. It is fully oriented and comfortable. My daughter is very picky and cannot tolerate anything itchy. She felt very comfortable in this dress all night. The fabric was okay for the price. Size: I ordered one size larger. So it fit a little more in the chest area, but it was good. However, it was a little shorter than I expected. it was like the length of a tea. I didn't buy a separate lining under the skirt, but it was pretty fluffy. To be honest I didn't have high hopes when I ordered this dress because it was so cheap. But very happy when it arrived. Absolute recommendation to buy this dress.
