Review on Madison Electric Products MSB1G Adjustable Electrical Box by Pius Aponte

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Not as good as the standard blue box

I bought one from Revain because it could come the next day and save me a trip to Lowe's. I was very excited when I received it. He is very fat and strong. The screws seemed like a big improvement over the standard nails. Unfortunately the whole experience was a disappointment and I will be replacing it soon. For one, the screws are difficult to handle. They do have to be pre-drilled into the studs, but who wants that? Without pre-drilling, it's difficult to keep everything in place, not break the screw, and get the box right where you need it. It's certainly not impossible, but nails are easier. Second, the box is small. It seems like a lot of space is lost when you put the screws in. I can work with it, but I'd rather just have a blue box. Finally holes for wires. They need to be hacked from the outside of the box with a screwdriver. There's no way to do it from the inside. Once you've done that, you need to cut off a small piece that sits between the two ears. If this does not happen, the wire will not fit. They are also two different sizes and they are only marked on the back of the box. So once you have the box installed you better hope you remember which were for 12 and which were for 14 as 12 doesn't actually fit in a 14 hole and the wires will NOT come back once inserted. .
