FINALLY a filter that works for turtles. This filter can be side mounted, which is great news for turtle owners who only fill the tank halfway to make room for a turtle swim platform. Most filters are designed to pull water to the very top of a full tank. This filter can be installed both vertically and horizontally to accommodate lower water levels. It's also the quietest filter I've ever had. The entire filtration process takes place below the water level, so there is no sound of running water, only a soft hum of the impeller sucking water into the device. Plus, all the water is in the tank, so there are no issues with leaks or broken hoses like you would expect from a canister filter. I installed this filter in a 40 gallon tank with a medium sized red tube slide. It cleans the water perfectly and is easy to care for. If you have more turtles or a larger aquarium, I would recommend using more than one U4 filter to provide enough filtration capacity. Overall I am very happy with this filter and would definitely recommend it to other turtle owners.
