Review on ๐Ÿงถ Stanwood Needlecraft Wooden Umbrella Swift - Medium: Perfect Yarn Winder for Effortless Crafting and Tangle-Free Knitting by Tricia Anderson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Tighten the handle? Much luck!

Update 1: [2019-05-04] After receiving a comment from the seller about the grip issue, I tried Swift again and made sure the grip was really tight. And since then I haven't had any problems for years and months. Apparently I was having a bad arthritis day trying to tighten it up earlier and I just couldn't muster my strength or something. I'm increasing my rating from 3 to 4 stars. It still squeaks, sometimes even loudly, and sounds like a duck turning, which I didn't mention before as I was more focused on the tongue. But I'm hesitant to give 5 stars because of the "buzz". I bought an extra nylon gear winder to be quieter when I'm knitting in the early hours while normal people are sleeping, but if I'm winding off a Swift it kind of doesn't make sense.-- ----- End of Update 1---The product looks strong enough, quick and easy to attach to the table. When rewinding the thread from the scissors to the winder, a slight creaking can be heard, but that doesn't bother me personally. What really annoys me (and more than that) is that the handle that holds the swift open - a hard-to-tighten wooden handle - loosens as the swift is used. The ribs snap shut and this beautiful skein of luxurious yarn falls off the Swift as I unravel it. Putting it back on the swift is harder than it should be, and when it's done there will be at least one giant knot in the yarn. Although I like the Stanwood nylon winder, I will be replacing this Swift with another. If you found my review helpful or interesting, don't forget to click "useful" below. Thanks very much!
