Review on πŸ’Ž Revolutionize Jewelry Making with Phrozen Monochrome Miniatures Printing by Adam Gechem

"POTENTIAL " is the keyword for this printer.

I really like using this thing. However, there are two CRITICAL design flaws that Phrozen should fix ASAP: 1) The table arm flexes when switching layers (both pull up and push down). This leads to displacements of the layers along the z-axis, ie bandage. I designed and made a diagonal brace to reinforce the buildplate arm and now that force is transferred to the Z-axis gantry, which still flexes a lot, although it seems to affect print quality significantly less since the flex is shifted became. This MUST be improved and is unacceptable for a $400 printer. 2) The band frame around the LCD is a fantastic idea - it protects the printer in the event of a tank failure. But it's so thick (0.12-0.16 mm, measured in different places) that there can be problems with the adhesion of the layers. After removing this tape and replacing it with Kapton tape (0.06 mm thick), the layer adhesion problems disappeared. After solving these two problems myself, I get AWESOME quality prints. But why would you do that on a $400 printer? I really hope that Phrozen can address this issue in future releases of this printer as other than that it is a fantastic machine and I enjoy using it. But the need to modify it to get reliable prints at night and at work was really unfortunate. Now about pluses. The 4k display is perfect for superfine details. The printer's high intensity UV array results in incredibly fast layer cure times (I use 3.5 seconds with Elegoo Gray for which an 8 second layer cure time is recommended - no issues associated). No issues with UV from the case cover (although some of it comes from the USB ports and fan). Aside from the build plate mount, the printer is incredibly durable and I have no doubt that with proper care and maintenance the printer will last a very long time. The touchscreen is very responsive and the firmware is fast enough that I don't notice an annoying lag when navigating the printer's menus. A tub cleaning setting is also really handy if you've just had a misprint but don't want to spend a few minutes filtering the UV resin, cleaning the tub, and then refilling the tar - but make sure you go in Piece of the old prop in the corner of the print area before you start cleaning the tub so you have something to pull out! In summary this is a great printer (with some work and critical thinking) but I don't think I would recommend it to people as their first resin printer. Am I happy with that? Yes. Do I think it's perfect? no But with a little thought and thought, this printer can really become something special.
