I am using this to connect my MBP to a Samsung monitor via HDMI as well as a Satechi USB-C keyboard. I also run power via USB-C and a 60W Satechi power adapter. I'm not crazy about the aesthetics of the device (the color doesn't match the MBP perfectly like Satechi accessories) and I'm not crazy about the cylinder shape, but considering the price I'm very satisfied. I haven't tested the throughput of the USB A or C connections, but I've used a flash drive and transferring 15-20MB files is no different than using another. I have a "hard mounted" USB-C hub (also from Satechi). Setup was completely hassle-free, although I found that my new USB-C keyboard had to be plugged directly into my laptop first (to be recognized) and then docked without loss of functionality. handled web browsing and other bandwidth-intensive activities (and stopped snooping on local wireless networks without using a VPN). Unlike the "brick" type that snaps into the side of the MBP and doesn't work if you're using a case), this is a good option. I've used three or four different devices and this is an expensive device that I still use frequently. The only device I've used that I like even more is from LYARE, but it's almost double the price (https://smile.amazon.com/Docking-Station-Lyare-Displays-Ethernet/dp/B08NJCFG57 ).
