. an unusual case when I pulled out my sewer pipe due to a clog and mine with it.

I had an unusual experience where a clog caused me to wriggle out of my sewer pipe, breaking my switchback and being stranded in the sewer about 12 feet away. I figured I would have to call a plumber, which would defeat my purpose of saving money by trying to fix the problem myself. After googling to see if anyone else had a similar issue, I came across a post about using a tool like this to grab tools that went offline during a channel queue. I thought maybe I could catch a broken snake with this tool and decided to give it a try. Well, first I replaced the serpentine cable on my machine with a new one (5/16 diameter) and sent the tool down the pipe to see if it would snag on it. Do not go. I pulled out the tool, took some channel locks and some pliers and bent the spool a little at the end so it's sticking straight out. This took some effort as these reels are quite strong and don't like to bend. I then sent it back down the drain pipe (4" diameter) and seemed to catch it. I had a hard time pulling it out at first, but actually I pulled this broken snake up and out of the sewer. What a relief, that bastard climbing out of the hole I had to modify this thing a bit but it did what I needed it to do and saved me a lot of money.
