Review on πŸ” GOLDENROD 495 Bowl Fuel Tank Filter: Efficient Filtration with 1" NPT Top Cap by Scott Clayton

hull LEAKY! the best filters

I bought goldenrod 495 and 496 in January and just got around to installing them on a diesel tank. After spending a couple of hours connecting the filters, nipples and fuel supply hose, I opened the check valve and fuel immediately began to flow from the top of the filter where the acrylic housing screws into the manifold. I have removed the housing many times to double, triple, quadruple check that the gasket was installed correctly and also experimented with different degrees of tightening without success. I also tried replacing the acrylic body with a second filter. There were a number of other reviews reporting the leak but they were in the minority so I ignored them which was a mistake. I would look at another product, or at least install one goldenrod component at a time and make sure it's not leaking before hooking up the rest of the system.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • I don't remember
