Perfect! for fuel filter

After reading the mixed reviews on here I was very hesitant and prepared for a quick return if it didn't work. This filter works great and hasn't had any issues (leaking, too tight, not tight enough etc etc). Combined with great performance and a clear bowl (to see what the filter is collecting) this thing makes a big difference too. Ignore the negative reviews and buy it. And buy an extra filter or two :)

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • speed

No problem - spare parts

Installing this filter was easy, I added sealant and it was installed in seconds. It's been running for 2 weeks now and I don't see any problems. One thing to note, to save everyone a headache, there is a small silver piece at the very bottom of the filter that needs to be tightened before use. If this is not the case then your fuel will leak and you will have to clean it. So be sure to check it out first!

Pros
  • Heavy duty construction
Cons
  • Capacity

Difficult to put on to stop leaks

I love goldenrod products. I have decided to move away from the usual external filter and to this model with a new overflow tank. Constant leakage at the upper thread between shell and body. Twice canceled and redone to ensure seal is in order and not twisted. Bought a goldenrod wrench to make sure it was tightened as tight as possible. Broken goldenrod wrench (already returned) trying to tighten. STILL in flow. Forget it and go back to canister style. I would return but outside the return…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Poorly thought out

hull LEAKY! the best filters

I bought goldenrod 495 and 496 in January and just got around to installing them on a diesel tank. After spending a couple of hours connecting the filters, nipples and fuel supply hose, I opened the check valve and fuel immediately began to flow from the top of the filter where the acrylic housing screws into the manifold. I have removed the housing many times to double, triple, quadruple check that the gasket was installed correctly and also experimented with different degrees of tightening…

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • I don't remember
