Do not buy SB6190 - Unresolved Latency Error

others have). First let me say that I bought another Arris modem (SB8200) to replace this defective modem, so I have no animosity towards Arris. They make fantastic products. class action source). Background: I bought the SB6190 in 2016 as it was the top rated DOCSIS 3.0 modem at the time. After a while we started noticing network dropouts and an unexplained lag. My children's online games were affected, as was our video streaming service (e.g. Netflix etc.). My troubleshooting led me to new cables and other "fixes" with no noticeable change. I then stumbled upon a class action lawsuit against Arris for concealing the fact that the Intel Puma 6 chipset used in the SB6190 had known latency issues. ALL SB6190 devices are affected by this latency bug and neither Intel nor Arris have successfully fixed this issue. However, they continue to sell it without mentioning this defect (which is the basis for a lawsuit). The DSL report can be found on Google "The-Arris-SB6190-Modem-Puma-6-Chipset-Have-Some-Major-Issues". The worst thing is Arris doesn't refund your money or acknowledge the problem when you call/call. complain. Your only option is to join the class action lawsuit. Bottom line: stay out of trouble and choose another brand or upgrade to DOCSIS 3.1 with the Arris SB8200, which uses the trusted Broadcom BCM3390 chipset (check with your ISP). First, make sure they support this new technology).
