When it works, it works great.

I am ordering this product for the second time. The first time it stopped working about six months later. The power cord at the base, as others have written, is very thin and shorted. I'll admit that while I'm not rough with my electronics, it may have been me that bought a second one. I figured I could keep the old one as a backup just in case and have a cable to use with any of them. Well, that theory was dispelled when I got a new one. I warn you, this is not the one in the photo. This is a new "updated" version. Among other things, the cords are not interchangeable. If you look at the photo it was quiet, cooled great, but then again the power cord - and the part you plug into the cooler and the switch (which fell apart after about 2 weeks) were flimsy and didn't last. This one is new, they fixed the switch problem by adding a button to the cooler itself, but the cable was still weak. It doesn't cool nearly as well as the original. My laptop stays very warm when in use, unlike the original which left my laptop cold to the touch. It's also very noisy - would actually wake my partner up using it in bed. Note that I said "used", not "used". Aha! This also broke: it lasted about 3 months until it shorted out. But after that I was able to rock it near the base for about a month and it would turn back on (obviously I would have to adjust it to stay in that position or hold it in place myself). But after about a month it's no longer possible, so I'm back without a cool box. I'm thinking of trying one of the non-motorized coolers. At least the power cord doesn't break!
