This is a good little set for beginners to learn the basics and also do small details or practice techniques with smaller patterns. However, because this loom has a strong backing/shell, it is very difficult to maneuver the yarn with the needle. So, for example, if you're weaving a solid color fabric or something with the same pattern from start to finish, that might be fine. However, forget about placing the shape in the middle or using special techniques that require you to start and stop in the middle. Because of the back, it will be very difficult to maneuver the thread there. I made it, but it wasn't easy. Otherwise a nice little loom. I think of it more as a toy and something to practice new techniques on without making a big piece or wasting a lot of yarn.
