First of all I would like to say that after assembling the product and working out the creases, it looks nice and comfortable. However, the assembly and performance was just terrible. I've bought lots and lots of RTA furniture over the years and you generally expect minor issues. But this product claims to be the worst thing ever assembled! The instructions are ok and easy to follow. This is just a simple diagram showing where to place the parts and screws. Easy enough. The problem starts when you get the same chair as mine and the six holes mentioned by another reviewer are drilled too far apart! It took two adults about an hour to slide the chair's seat in while pulling on the plastic side to "stretch" it into place to smooth it out a bit. Time will tell but I am concerned that this plastic will crack in the future due to the high stress that must be on it at this moment. After the first six screws were in, everything ran very smoothly until the end. I assembled it, sat in it, tried playing with the adjustable height and found that the lever that controls the adjustment is NOT touching ANYTHING! Took it apart and found that the hydraulic lift portion was too short and therefore the switch that the lever was supposed to move was too far down for the lever to touch. At this point I was very upset about all of this and my boyfriend took over. He got a little nervous and tapped the hydraulic lift with a hammer and suddenly it popped out about 8-10 inches. It was stuck. While I'm very, very happy that it just snaps in and isn't too short, I'm still shocked at what a piece of junk it is! This chair is for my son. About a month ago I bought a new computer chair that was a similar style and only cost $20 more. I had one right out of the box, fully assembled and up and running in about 10 minutes, and I managed to do it unassisted. I am very technical and would like to clarify here that there were some major issues with the chair and not with my assembly skills. Had it come with bolt holes drilled in the right places and no hydraulic jack jammed I would probably give it 4 or 5 stars. It looks like at least a few people here put theirs together with no problems. So if you buy it, you might get lucky. However, if you buy one like mine, you will berate yourself for buying it. And you need someone to help you slide the seat in by pulling out the plastic side panels, trying to align the screw and turning the hex key. at the same time (unless you have 4 or 5 hands). But hey, if your hydraulic lift is stuck, at least it's easy enough to fix. Just hit it with a hammer to unlock it! Ridiculous.
