Review on Columbia Unisex Youth Powderbug Orange Boys' Shoes and Outdoor by John Camelio

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Impossible for a child to progress.

This is an outer boot with a felt insole. The felt lining is removable. My son cannot put his foot in a felt-lined boot. You can remove the felt insert, but then the hard plastic shell will hurt your child's ankles. I first ordered size 11 (normal size for my child). He couldn't even put his boot on with my help. So I ordered 12 (a whole size up) and my kid still couldn't put the boot on by himself. With my help, putting on a shoe still took 10 minutes. The boot has no tongue or laces to widen the opening at the top - you'll get stuck if you force your foot in. It does not work well. My child has thin ankles and narrow feet and could not wear two different sizes of these boots. Terrible design. Don't buy this. They aren't cheap either. There is no excuse for such a bad design. My first grader is quite experienced (dresses himself, tightens and ties his shoelaces, knows how to backflip on a trampoline) but says these Columbia snowshoes can't be put on by himself. I agree. Only buy these boots if you want to spend 20 minutes each morning putting on each boot. They have terrible designs.

Pros
  • The boots are holding up this year with multiple uses so far. Fits as expected and my son has no complaints.
Cons
  • Bright colors may not appeal to all buyers.
