Review on Komputerbay 16GB (4X 4GB) DDR2 PC2-5300F 667MHz CL5 ECC Fully Buffered FB-DIMM (240 PIN) 16 GB with Heatspreaders for Apple Mac Computers by Ryan Gilliam

Bought for 2007 Mac Pro 1 1

Do not buy for Mac Pro 1.1. I bought this RAM, Komputerbay 16GB (4x 4GB) DDR2 PC2-5300F 667MHz CL5 ECC Fully Buffered FB-DIMM (240 PIN) 16GB Heat Spreaders for Apple Computers based on some seemingly good reviews from other Mac Pros -First generation owners. Everything was fine for the first 2 weeks. Then I noticed that every time I rebooted my MP would shut down almost completely and then the drive would behave like it was trying to access the drive every 15 seconds and never rebooted. I had to manually turn it off and on again. At the same time I got a random kernel panic from my graphics card complaining about the DMA engine. After weeks of checking that everything else was fine, it turned out to be Komputerbay RAM. After putting my old RAM back in, everything worked fine, even a reboot. But every time I put one of the computers from RAM to MP, the reboot stops working and the kernel panics when loading videos and complains about DMA (Direct Access Memory, in other words RAM). Unfortunately I have 5 days past the 30 day return policy and no one will collect or replace it. DON'T MAKE THIS MISTAKE and buy a Crucial or Kingston or get them from OWC. Update September 10, 2015: After contacting Komputerbay technical support, they kindly gave me an RMA to send the memory back and get a replacement. I'm currently waiting to see what they find and what happens from there.
