I found that even on the lowest setting the device makes an unbearable noise that literally travels through your body causing ringing in your ears. . It feels like you are in an alarm clock that hits you at the same time. I'm no expert, but it baffles me that an "ultrasonic" device could be so incredibly and hauntingly audible. I made the mistake of using it on the left side of my face and now I'm (hopefully temporarily) partially deaf in my left ear. At the same time, the device itself is durable and intuitive.
