The charts are easy to use and the instructions are easy to follow.

The patterns are easy to use and the instructions are clear for beginners. I would prefer methods that look more "finished" but I'm sure they make the process easier for younger seamstresses so I can ignore it. So far I've only made two different tops and a mini skirt. The real problem I have is that NOTHING I made from this book fits my Pleasant Company American Girl doll. Even after adding 1/4 inch to the center pieces of the back pattern, the entire garment will be too tight to fit the back. Yes, I try to use 1/4" seam allowances. I've read online that Mattel's newer dolls are thinner so maybe this book is for them. I was impressed by this book until I started sewing clothes and realized they didn't fit me, but note that if you have an old Pleasant Company doll, these charts may not work for you, otherwise I would have loved this book.

Pros
  • beautiful thing
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
