Great for beginners

I bought this book to practice sewing patterns and to learn how to use a sewing machine. I've only been sewing for a few weeks so I'm just starting out, but this book has helped me learn a lot such as using a different fabric and more. I have an American Girl doll that has been in my closet since I thought I was too old to play with dolls, but I like to make little pants and shirts to dress her up in. The charts are easy to use and the instructions are easy to follow.

The real problem I have is that NOTHING I made from this book fits my Pleasant Company American Girl doll. Even after adding 1/4 inch to the center pieces of the back pattern, the entire garment will be too tight to fit the back.

My daughter and another student chose this book to sew their dolls. The patterns are accurate, at least for my daughter's AGD. and her friend's 18 inch dolls. The instructions are clear and concise, as are the prep and tips to get you started. The method of explaining steps with illustrations allows young children to test themselves while…
