I have two cats, one 8 years old and one 5 months old. I originally bought this for a kitten (he's small) to try and give her something other than my couch to scratch. Unfortunately, she was more interested in the mouse that came with it and the box it came in. However, my senior cat immediately decided that this was the most amazing thing her claws had ever encountered. As her clawing hustle subsided, she settled down with her huge furry body (she's so big and furry you can't even see what she's wearing, it looks like she's magically levitating a few inches off the ground) and to fall on him with her has been there ever since (apart from a few lunch and bathing breaks). The two cons are that 1) I have wooden floors so I need to find some kind of rug to keep it in place to stay in place 2) it's a bit small for big cats though the kitten not (yet) interested in me older cat has found a new favorite spot! The price is low enough to "test" it and see if your cat likes it.
