Around 2002 I stepped on a lego lying harmlessly on the ground and survived to tell this story. Fast forward to 2020 and I got this Lego Duplo set for my young daughter with a little more wisdom not to step on it and a fear that it might only be a matter of time before I do. My daughter, on the other hand, is absolutely blown away by the playset and the first thing she does when she wakes up is making sure each of the 85 pieces is on the floor for her to play with. I see her going into a kind of 'trance' as she builds her intricate designs and models. It easily keeps them busy for long periods of time, and the details are varied enough to create some truly stunning designs. I myself have indulged in this preoccupation with her from time to time and enjoyed it. This was due to the need to move around the house like a minefield, which in the WFH era only increases the chances of survival. But hey, with great joy comes great responsibility, and there's no better Lego set in the world to understand that.
