I thought it would be more fun to play with because it has a rainbow shape and not the standard abacus where you move the beads from side to side. We practiced counting and colors. Our 2.5 year old likes to play with it just the way it is, moving the beads over and over and over again :) and also loves running his hot wheels over them. These points will grow with your child as you can change the boards on the inside to suit your child's ability. That too is noticeable. We are happy about it!
