Excellent toy. I love colors and believe this toy will help my son with math when he grows up. He's three years old and we're working on counting with him right now, but the inserts to put between the counting beads will help him a lot with his addition and subtraction at school. I also have a friend who has a two year old and this is one of his favorite toys when he comes over!

I thought it would be more fun to play with because it has a rainbow shape and not the standard abacus where you move the beads from side to side. We practiced counting and colors. Our 2.5 year old likes to play with it just the way it is, moving the beads over and over and over again :) and also loves running his hot wheels over them. These points will grow with your child as you can change the boards on the inside to suit your child's ability. That too is noticeable. We are happy about it!

I've noticed some negative reviews. Don't listen to them, buy it! I don't understand why and how to complain! The toy is of excellent quality, the beads are excellent, the bows are metal, the frame is wood. I don't know how anyone could have expected it to be better. Got this for my daughter's first birthday along with her sparkly shoes and doll, it's now one of her favorite toys and will have many uses in the future with the addition. I bought this for my 2 year old knowing he would be more advanced and what would become of him. He loves his giant bead maze so I thought it would be a great way to introduce him to counting. I've looked at toys with removable counting beads, but I just KNOW he's going to lose them! Regular straight abacus looks easier but I figured they might help with addition and subtraction one day!
