Review on πŸ’₯ ProGrade Digital SD UHS-II Dual-Slot Memory Card Reader: Unleashing Speed & Performance for Filmmakers, Photographers & Content Creators! by Ryan Larson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The perfect SD card reader - note cable length

I record a lot of videos and find that I need to load multiple high capacity UHS-II SD cards at the same time. Every other card reader I've tried is MUCH slower when loading parallel cards onto your computer. That's the first thing I noticed that's not the case. Swapping out (2) 128GB Sony M cards gives me 480MB/s on my computer. This is close to the card's maximum rated speed and much faster than any other multi-reader I've ever used. Please note that I am swapping data to an NVME SSD with a very high write speed. Swapping out to a slower SSD (or mechanical hard drive) will result in significant slowdown. I received two cables with a reader - USB 3.1 Gen 1 AC and USB 3.1 Gen 2 CC. I am using a 2nd generation CC cable and am getting the expected speed from my computer. Keep in mind that these cables are only about 18.6 inches long and I believe they are meant for use with a laptop. I have found that I cannot extend the cable from my office. table to my computer tower, so I had to place the reader on top of the tower instead. Not a perfect solution, but the product works so well that I don't care too much. A 3ft Gen 2 CC cable costs about $16. If you decide you need a longer cable. If you only offload one card at a time, other readers are preferable. But if you need to offload fast cards at the same time, this is by far the best option I have. found.

Pros
  • DO MORE WHAT YOU LOVE: Because the ProGrade Digitalβ„’ USB 3.2 Gen 2 dual slot SDβ„’ speeds - up to 1.25 GB/s (10 Gb/s) from both cards at the same time - you can spend more time creating and less time waiting for downloads.
Cons
  • Annoying
