I've been using them almost exclusively for heavier items lately. The reason these types of anchors are better is because the threads are deep and sharp, so they actually dig into the drywall without destroying it. Once the screw is screwed in, it drives it even deeper into the drywall, ensuring a secure connection. Your typical plastic dowel will usually have a few friction ribs, but use a strong drill/screwdriver and you'll see how easily they turn uselessly. these don't have the problem. They will drill themselves and stop exactly when flush with a drywall when using a clutch driver. breathtaking.
