I've had plantar fasciitis on both feet for about ' until I finally went to the orthopedist because at the end of the day I could barely walk. In fact, the podiatrist didn't offer much treatment other than using ice and making a special insole for my shoes and possibly cortisone injections or future surgeries (NOT and NO!), and he certainly didn't mention anything about getting a fastener. So I started surfing the internet as I am now desperately trying to fix the problem. It turned out that wearing a bandage at night to keep the leg at a 90-degree angle would help with morning pain. I was skeptical but desperate. So I now cool my heels several times a day, stop walking unless absolutely necessary to allow them to heal, and have ordered 2 different night splints to see how they work. Well the first morning when I got out of bed I couldn't believe it-- NO PAIN for the first time in months! I bought and wear this night splint and another that looks more like a plastic boot. on different legs for a week to test each one. I prefer this one because it works great, is much more comfortable and not as big as the trunk. The boot is "more stable" - it holds my foot in place, but I found it didn't matter - even though this splint allows my foot to move, it still keeps my foot at a 90 degree angle. and do business. It's not as hot as a boot and doesn't need to be strapped very tight - I hate the "locked up" feeling. I've found that "boot" wakes me up a lot more often than this hoop, so this hoop wins! I ordered another one today and am about to kick the boot to the curb. This one is a winner! UPDATE 2 YEARS LATER: Well it has helped relieve my morning pain but the only way I finally got rid of plantar fasciitis was through physical therapy and the Graston Technique (see YouTube). I would still recommend using these boots while you are still suffering but I would also recommend seeing a good physical therapist who is familiar with all of these techniques for PF and again that is important - you should always do foot/leg exercises To keep the rest of your foot strong and never walk barefoot or wear cheap flip flops again, wear shoes with a good high arch (look for Vionics on Revain - pricey but your health is worth it!) or get them Get some good arch support insoles for your shoes (look for the Spenco RX on Revain, they're little green wonders!) I hope this helps!
