The handle feels good in the hand. The rope is pretty lightweight with a cable reinforcement running through the center. I'm 5' 6" tall and without any adjustments, the handles come right to my armpits, which is the recommended "beginner" length. I shortened them about 5 inches on either side and there was enough room in the handle to do so without having to cut any of the rope off. The handles have a decent bearing inside to facilitate smooth jumping without having to worry about kinks or twists in the rope. The ropes came packaged nicely without any hard kinks or anything that had to be massaged out. I had definitely forgotten how much of a workout jumping rope is.
