Got them because our son loves minecraft and he says they look like minecraft lava. I think they are true to size but ordered to give them room to grow. He claims they are comfortable and some of them compress when I press on the inside of the memory foam. He's only worn them once so I can't comment on their durability. The tag says machine washable but I never washed them. The tongue is also articulated, which the new shoes don't seem to have (seen in the photo). This makes it ideal for getting in and out with wide legs. It seems to be designed for at least 1 academic year. They came with some stickers. I do not know, whether they should or not but the 9 year old thought it was "so cool". There is a similar pair with plastic Velcro, I do not recommend this one. plastic breaks! They don't have that kind of plastic so that's a big plus!
