Well I failed to prioritize aesthetics over quality when purchasing this product. I was looking for a powerful speaker. They advertise 20w (and maybe they mean 2 x 10) but the output is less than my 10 year old JBL 2 x 5w speaker. (Some parts of the ad (in the title) say 20 watts and others say 10. I also asked this in the Q&A and they answered wrong. So buyers beware.) I ran some DBs. ran tests at near, mid and long range and compared it to my first generation JBL Flip (which again has half the advertised performance). DB scores peaked at 80 at close range and dropped from there. Distortion at maximum volume was evident. Another annoying aspect is that the speaker emits an annoying loud beep at maximum volume instead of just stopping turning the volume up. The only benefit is that the speaker starts at a lower default volume when you turn it on, even if you left it at maximum volume last time. It is clear that the volume control is not a mechanical damper, but a digital one. The speaker advertises a DC input, but it isn't. This is one of those little Lightning cables used for cheap tiny USB speakers and headphones. The power cord gauge is significantly smaller than the REVEAL headphones I've purchased and, more annoyingly, about 12-16 inches long. long enough to place the speaker DIRECTLY above it and no further than an outlet on a table. A short cable will eventually damage the cable. Also, the company didn't provide a power plug, just a Lightning cable with USB on one end. The case looks like wood, but it's not. It's just plastic with imitation wood on the outside. So there is no wooden speaker cabinet to enhance the speakers. The fake brass volume knob was already showing some wear when it came fresh out of the box. I just wanted to drop it and attribute it to a cheap speaker (I have it on sale for $27), but despite not having travelled. with the speaker or by tossing it in my bag (it was on my desk the whole time) the sound randomly started dropping while I was watching a movie last night. It just seems like a matter of time before it becomes a useless piece. Meanwhile, the JBL Flip I bought ten years ago still sounds great, and even though I dropped it off my bike onto the sidewalk and threw it in my bag and traveled the world with it, it still sounds great, although it's a bit shabby and not that aesthetic.
