Review on 🐱 Cat Litter Box Bench by Manju Lett

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Not very easy to clean (it says in my review), don't put anything on top!

I bought this item because my family room has a litter box (I have 5 cats) which I wanted to remove from the site. I must say that the finish of the furniture is very attractive and I received the item undamaged with all parts intact. Assembly was fairly easy (a battery powered screwdriver works great) and I was very pleased with the look of the cabinet. What I don't like is that the outer walls fit into a slightly raised platform (ledge) on the base. This creates a slight gap around the inside of the walls (walls don't fit and aren't designed to fit on a raised ledge). Any kitty litter or waste that doesn't make it down the litter box can end up in this slot. I have an older cat who doesn't always step into the litter box when she pees, so urine runs off the platform (lips) into the crevice, under the walls, and then onto the floor outside the litter box (to be honest). If the walls were firmly on the base, urine would still flow underneath and onto the floor). I originally bought a large "cat mat" to catch or drain dirt and cut it to fit the inside, but the urine leaks through the texture and out. I ended up using dog litter pads (which I have already used under litter boxes for problems with my old cat), I only have to change them when I clear out the drawer. My only other issue with this cabinet is that you CANNOT put any weight on the cabinet. The cabinet comes with a divider to divide the box into 1/3 and 2/3 but even with that for support any weight on top will push the top down and then the door magnets will open. I have a small, light (20lb) cat tree on my closet and I'm just going to cut a 2x2 board to height and place it just behind the door. I wish the closet had the option of having a door at both ends instead of just one end then using the 2x2 as a support I could fit a flat litter box in and my older cat CAN urinate in the crate at one end and exit at the other end. I really want to buy another of these cabinets for my kitchen to use as a cat food pantry! The bottom of the windows in my house reach the top of this cabinet, so that's the perfect height and size to store all of the cat food and then put the cat bowls on top (to prevent the dog from eating cat food!). With 5 cats I have a lot to eat! With the 2nd cabinet I can then take the 1st apart, put 2 door closures on the toilet cabinet and have 2 fixed wall closures for the storage cabinet. One last thing about assembly - if you don't plan on ever taking this cabinet apart, I want to use wood glue on both ends of the dowels that the top and bottom walls go into on the next build - just for extra strength. . It would be a nice additional instruction to include with them. While this closet isn't exactly perfect, I love it so much I'm planning to buy a second one. Some of the cabinet's shortcomings are pretty easy to modify and work around. Some of the reviewers have included some great idea photos that they have included in their cabinet.
