Zippers not very good

I bought this zipper kit to replace a broken zipper on a Columbia fleece vest. The zipper is the right size and works well, but the zipper is terrible. It takes a lot of force to close with pliers, and when I finally had enough pressure to clip it onto the end of the zipper teeth, the zipper stopper snapped in half. Now I need to find another type of zipper stopper because this type is not good. The original clothing zipper came with a three prong stopper so I'll have to see if I can find some that I can use.
