Choose the wrong pencils (Edit: They were fakes)

So I bought this set because it was part of the Revain Lightning deal and I'm new to drawing with colored pencils. What I knew straight away were the fake pencils in a very similar zipped case. I was a bit disappointed because the pencils I received didn't look as pretty as the ones pictured - they didn't look like them at all. Although the case I received looks very similar to the clasp case shown in the photo, the pens inside were different and simpler. high quality wax crayons. However, this is not the case. Although the pencils I received look like Prismacolor Premier pencils, they are NOT. They are fakes. I know this because after purchasing this set I bought and tested a set of 150 Prismacolor Premier pencils. Here's what I found: The pencil leads I received in this set are a different color than the actual Prismacolor Premier pencils. For example, if you look at a purple pencil lead, even though it is purple on the paper, the lead looks SIGNIFICANTLY different than the pencil tip. Leads crumble on paper in different ways. While they both seem like crumbling-based wax, with a real Prismacolor Premier pencil it's a bit easier to press the pencils firmly into the paper to crumple the lead as its formula is softer. They are different on paper. Prismacolor Premier pencils are much more "waxy" and applied in a thicker layer. Although the fakes in this set are VERY pigmented, they are not as waxy as the real thing. Pencils are different. This is the most obvious and telling difference: the leads are not as thick as the leads of the Prismacolor Premier pencils. These are not what I would call thick, artistic quality cores. Prismacolor Premier pencils are very soft colored pencils and therefore need a thicker core compared to academic pencils to prevent the pigment inside from breaking down if dropped. The fakes don't have as thick a core as Prismacolor-Premier and that's easy to see by comparing the sockets of the pens side-by-side. These are fakes. I suspect this set is a generic category for a number of different fakes masquerading as other types of pencils. What, as they say. To be honest I paid about $20 for a lightning deal on this set and they are thick, very pigmented and I really don't hate them. The zip case is pretty good and I will use it when I run out of these pens. I will use fakes when fooling around or making cards for my gaming table. I'm really not surprised that these are fake considering how much I paid and despite the false advertising I don't really regret the purchase. really pretty good for what they are. I'm deducting a star because the regular pencils I've bought try to masquerade as Prismacolor Premier pencils, but if you've read this review to this point you should be armed with the knowledge that it's just simple fakes. I was going to buy regular pencils anyway and they work fine but they are what they are.
