This Belkin USB 2.0 4-Port Ultra Mini Hub (F5U407) isn't perfect (what is?), but it offers great performance, especially for the price and value . My situation is somewhat unique. I have an OPPO BDP-93 Universal Network 3D Blu-ray Disc Player with two USB 2.0 ports, one on the front of the device and one on the back. The rear port is mainly used for connecting a Wi-Fi antenna (powered from the USB port), which is necessary if, like me, you use Wi-Fi to connect your Oppo to the internet. The front connector is mainly for external hard drives, used when running Oppo as a media center (that's how I use Oppo most of the time). But I wanted to connect a Western Digital My Book for Mac 1TB USB 2.0 desktop external hard drive with its own power adapter to the rear USB port and leave it there permanently along with the Wi-Fi antenna (leaving the front port available for other drives ), so I bought this little hub. Works great and both devices work perfectly. I have read at least one previous review that USB 3.0 devices will not work with this hub. I have several Western Digital My Passport Essential SE 1TB USB 3.0 (black) portable external hard drives; These devices are powered by the USB port. I left my previous two devices connected and added one of these USB 3.0 drives to the hub. It worked flawlessly; The hub showed my two hard drives and the Oppo stayed connected to the internet via the wifi antenna. So as you can see two USB powered devices (an antenna and a drive) were connected along with a network drive and they all worked. And a USB 3.0 powered device through this hub works fine, at least with my Blu-ray player. Of course, the transfer rate only applies to USB 2.0; Oppo's ports are USB 2.0 only. But USB 2.0 is sufficient for music and HD videos. Then, just for fun, I connected a second WD My Passport Essential USB 3.0 drive (I had four devices connected this way, two USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0, three USB and one AC). This second USB 3.0 drive was initially recognized as well, but when I closed it and returned to the Oppo menu, only the first WD My Passport (3.0) and WD My Book (2.0) showed up. I turned the Oppo off and then back on and as before all three drives showed up, but just like before when I closed one of My Passports only the other two drives showed up. (The antenna remained fully functional throughout, as did the AC-powered USB 2.0 drive.) I seem to be able to connect three things to the Oppo: a Wi-Fi antenna, a self-powered USB 2.0 drive, and a powered USB drive 3.0 drive from USB and they all work fine but I can't safely connect the fourth device (another USB powered USB 3.0 drive). still; I only tried this as an experiment (and note that I didn't use the front USB port at all). I will be permanently connecting my WD My Book (USB 2.0) through this hub along with the Wi-Fi antenna; When I want to use one of my WD My Passport USB 3.0 drives, I just plug it into the front USB port (since they're portable, I unplug them when not in use). have seen some complaints about the durability of this product. Can't comment on that yet as I just got mine yesterday. But Belkin offers a "Lifetime Warranty" (although there were no details in my package). Of course, since it costs almost as much to send a defective hub back to Belkin as it does to buy a new one, I'm pretty sure few, if any, will call on the warranty. I have to say that I've had another hub (different brand) for ten years (it's so old it's only USB 1.1) and it's always worked great. So I'm reasonably confident that this hub will last for a while (hubs, like computer accessories, are relatively simple things). Please consider the extremely low price of this hub: I will be ordering a few more and even if one (or more) only lasts a year or two I will not feel "booked out". Note again that I am not using this hub with a computer; I use it with an Oppo BDP-93, so my situation may or may not apply to you. However, I'm sure my comments apply when using this hub with any Blu-ray or DVD player that has a USB input. So I highly recommend this very affordable USB 2.0 hub from Belkin. Thank you for reading this review and I hope you enjoyed it.
