They are airtight when worn with your regular menstrual protection. They fit very well and are snug around my bum and stomach which is reassuring at this time of year - bum from leaking and stomach from cramping. The only thing I complain about when they got blood on them I immediately rinsed them off with cold water thinking there was no blood on them but as they dried a large brownish area formed on them where the water settled and left traces of blood. I've washed both black and shrimp in the washing machine on a gentle cycle and then dried them, but they're all stained. I didn't think they would stay perfect forever considering what they are, but I really don't like that they rub off from the first use. I use castile soap to remove blood because it always removes organic stains, but even that didn't work. They deducted a star for that.
