Review on Aqua Plumb 9100 Filter Housing: Maintain Pure and Clean Water with this Superior Filter System by Patrick Burton

I was surprised by the quality of construction and the solidity of this unit. Brass inlet/outlet fittings offer a quality, reliable and leak-proof construction. I use it as a polishing wine filter just before bottling. I lit it with the feed as tight as I could, the wine spilled all over the place and I HAVE GREAT TIME. But I stopped and disassembled the plastic sleeve, and it turned out that the gasket top may not fully penetrate the groove. The o-ring is difficult to hold in place as it wants to fall out and takes nearly three hands to install. But once I put the ring back on and carefully screwed everything back in, NO LEAK even with a simple hand tighten. Considering that I initially screwed up the build and had major leaks, I'm guessing that all the people complaining about leaks on here just didn't install the o-ring properly. I just ordered a silicone grease for plumbers (food grade). which (according to internet geniuses) can be used to coat the o-ring and help secure it in place. Poor design in this water filter housing for the o-ring. There should have been a narrower groove where the o-ring was forced into place rather than just sitting there. I'll see if I can find a thicker o-ring that fits snugly in the groove and stays there while you pack. If the o-ring held up better I would give 5 stars. [Additional edit] I tried silicone grease today as an "glue" and it made things worse by lubricating the o-ring and making it easier to get out of its groove. The problem is that the o-ring is too thin so it doesn't fit snugly in the groove, and worse, the inside diameter is also too small so you have to stretch the o-ring to get it to snap into place just a. the back. I'll see if I can find a thicker and thicker o-ring to replace the factory one!
