We recently moved into a new house with tile floors. The gap between the tile floor and interior doors is approximately 1.5 inches with the doors closed. Almost all sounds bounce off the floor and can be heard throughout the house. I found these dual mufflers and decided to try them in my son's bedroom because he plays drums and the sound was very loud on the tile floor. They can be cut to length, are easy to assemble and significantly reduce the noise level. Most bedroom doors aren't very thick or airtight, so don't expect them to suddenly soundproof your rooms. I definitely feel that the noise is significantly less before and after coming under the doors. After the original purchase installed within 2 days, I bought 3 more to install all the bedroom doors in the house. These aren't the flashiest of pieces, but we have gray tile floors, so they don't stand out as much as they might with other color options. After spending a few days with them, you won't notice them anymore. It's also worth noting that the foam trays are each 2.5 inches thick. I didn't measure the fabric between the inserts, but they make them for different thickness doors. Because our doors are 1.25 inches thick, there is extra room and fabric on one side or the other of your door depending on whether the door is open or closed. When the bedroom doors are closed they don't seem to seal well in the bedroom. But if you look at them from the OUTSIDE of the bedroom, they are firmly closed and flush with the door. You will always have one side or the other that feels too loose unless your door thickness matches the maximum door thickness for them to function properly. The thickness of the wing is not adjustable, only the length of the door is adjusted by cutting the foam inserts and folding the wing in on itself. All in all they do exactly what I need and earned my 5 star rating for price, ease of use and functionality.
