This is a good shaving soap at a great price. The scent reminded me of my grandfather's shaving soap from the early '60s. Definitely an old-fashioned scent for hairdressers. When I first used this soap made a great creamy lather even in the very hard water I had at home. He performed daily for six months. However, as I neared the bottom of the bowl, the quality and volume of the foam began to deteriorate. The foam was thin and lacked the good lubrication I was used to. It's as if the oils, which are an essential part of any soap, float to the top when the soap is poured into a bowl, leaving the lower quality soap at the bottom. I even installed a water softener around the same time and the soft water didn't improve the quality of the foam from the bottom of the bowl. Next time I'll try hard soap instead of molded soap to see if that makes the soap more effective. Difference.
