This item is lightweight. It can't carry anything heavy, not even something simple like sunglasses, wallet, cellphone and small water bottle. The lower part can be pulled down to support the weight. Actually, I didn't feel comfortable with it. I was afraid it would break. Since it arrived folded in a plastic bag, I had to put tissue paper inside to even shape the bag. Do yourself a favor and check out the more expensive department for something more expensive but one that really lasts. I have sent this one back and have already replaced it with something more expensive but it will hold up on a trip or at the beach.
