Review on SUNLITE Black Thorn Resistant Tube with Schrader Valve by Robert Dabney

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good TR tubes for kids and youth bikes - I prefer presta valve

These tubes are fine. Not at all. These are your primary TR inner tubes which are heavier and thicker than regular bike inner tubes and help prevent flats and flats when riding on rough tarmac or mud. I prefer TR tubes on my boys bikes. Yes, the chambers are a bit heavier, but the TR chambers largely prevent my boys from getting punctured and punctured. As a cyclist, I'm not a big fan of Schrader valves in bike tubes. Shraeder valve tubes just make it harder to keep the valve straight in the rim. That's if you have an air compressor in your garage so you can pump up your tires quickly. This is not Sunlite's fault. I only wish they (or Kenda or Bontrager or Specialized or Trek or Giant) made a TR hose in a 24" x 1 3/8 Presta valve. If you have a good floor pump, Presta valve hoses do a lot easier to inflate (and keep inflated) than shredder valves.

Pros
  • Tires and tubes
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
