Previously (maybe 10-20 years ago) this product had a simple lid that was perfectly smooth and held in place just by rubbing position was held. It worked great - the lid was easy to twist and remove while staying in place when pouring (unless you did something really stupid like turn it upside down). Fast forward to now and Rubbermaid has redesigned their classic product to make it look worse. The lid now has small protrusions or lugs that snap into notches in the top of the jar. It provides a locking effect when the lid is rotated to different positions. I'm sure it would be a good marker in promotional material, but it's terrible. Because of those silly protrusions, simply removing the lid to fill the jug is a chore. He doesn't want to go out. There is also a very large parting line from the plastic injection molding process that runs right down the center of the handle. It's that pesky, sharp crest right under your thumb every time you pick up the jug. Once you notice it will drive you crazy and the product will feel like cheap junk. This is the worst shape-for-shape option except I'm sure it will save you pennies. Both of the above problems can be solved with a sharp hobby knife (X-acto) and careful pruning. But that's not how it should be. If you can find an original version of this jug without a resealable lid, be sure to buy it, not this one. However, this will still have a dividing line.
