I'll start by repeating what others have said - in most cases you won't need this adapter. It really depends on what it does and if you WANT that adapter. Each new disposal comes with a mounting system so you don't need this adapter. If you want to keep your old 3-bolt mount in place and the new mount is NOT a 3-bolt mount (like the EZ mount), you will need this adapter. We have a new Waste King recycler. EZ mount. New flange chrome. All of our kitchen surfaces (including sinks and faucets) are polished nickel. Because of this I wanted to keep the existing brackets and this was a 3 bolt bracket. -Make a mount. That's why I WANT this adapter. With that in mind, it was very easy to mount it to the disposer (instead of some parts of the EZ mounting system) and installing a new disposer was as simple as twisting the bottom flange into place, hooking up the dishwasher and drain lines and hooking it up most likely do NOT NEED it. But you can decide if you WANT it based on some of the above considerations.
