Review on ALTRA Paradigm Men's Road Running Shoe by Scott Lavimodiere

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Comfortable ankle opening, but the opening is too big

The shoes fit me well since I wear 9.5 in Escalante 2.0 and they fit me perfectly. My gripe with this shoe is that the ankle hole is too big and as a result I have to tighten the laces to keep myself from bouncing up and down the back of the shoe as I run. I was hoping they would ride the same as my Hoka Clifton 5 but they are more durable which makes them better for long distances. If you're hoping they'll be similar to the Hoka Clifton models, you'll be disappointed to find that they're much more durable. The top is comfortable over my shoes. In comparison, the Altra Duo 1.5 has a terrible material design around the ankle and upper foot that rubs and presses against the foot and causes blisters. Paradigm does not suffer from this design flaw. Pros: * Zero Drop * Shoe true to size * Soft materials around the ankles and upper part of the foot. * Durable outsole but with good support. * Fairly light on foot. for high stack shoes Cons: * The ankle hole is too big * The sole is more durable than other brands shoes with a similar stack height (Hoka Clifton 5) Overall this is a great shoe. If you don't use them for running, they make great walking shoes. I've only run 15 miles in them and I'm still trying to figure out the right lace tension for long runs so my ankle doesn't slip out of the shoe and also the top of my foot stays comfortable.

Pros
  • Great shoes at a great price with super fast shipping!
Cons
  • Too narrow for wide feet.
