I bought these to put under the kitchen cupboard so the light comes on when entering a dark room but you can't put them under the cupboard because the sensor doesn't pick up movement, you're practically right about that the sensor to turn on the light. I don't like that the sensor light goes out so quickly when it doesn't detect movement. So when you enter a dark room, it is better to turn on another light. very quickly or you are standing in the dark, the sensor also lights up in a bright room, makes little sense.
