NO SOFTWARE FOR NEW OPERATING SYSTEMS LIKE WINDOWS 7 AND 8. You cannot capture files from this recorder (according to Sony) without software. You can download copies of the Digital Voice Editor software from the Sony website by entering your device number, but YOU CANNOT USE THIS DEVICE WITH NEW OPERATING SYSTEMS. If my XP computer crashes my device that works great is useless unless I can find third party software that works. I love this device it's awesome and great for lectures doctor visits note taking whatever and it's clear and you can save files in multiple formats and I've never had a problem with it. BUT THIS IS AN OLD BLOCK NOW IN 2014
