Helps blood flow to the gums

Helped me avoid gum problems for the last 26 years. The recommended (but not always achievable) goal is to stimulate the gums in front and back between each tooth 10 times each time you brush. These are replacement nibs for those yellow metal stimulant pens that chain pharmacies sell for around $4, but treat their customers like drug addicts and almost never sell these nibs, maximizing their profits and minimizing the chance of you keeping yours. Teeth - smallpox on it. Tips need to be changed as soon as they no longer penetrate deeply between each tooth - probably every 2-4 weeks - otherwise you will lose a lot of their good effect. Only downside is that a friend of the periodontist recently mentioned that he likes a Proxabrush (Sp?) which has the same handle but has a small brush on it instead of a tip. These tips used to be metal (yuk!) but now they're nylon, which is way more comfortable. There is no doubt that Proxabrush removes plaque better, but I don't understand how they stimulate blood flow to the gums like gum stimulants and gums, like any other part of the body, are healthiest when they are well vascularized. I think for any floss fanatic it would be ideal to use both, but my pick will still be gummy as it has good systemic action and you can always use your next cleaning to remove any plaque that you may have missed with flossing If you don't get the latter, it would be highly advisable to use both rubber tips and a proxa brush in addition to flossing.
