I used it to replace a shorter cable that "felt" too loose on the USB-C side. This cable was nice and tight, but I almost threw the drive away until I read online about a specific error I was getting from Disk Utility. And so I started using the old cable again and the error went away. Two diagnostic tools suddenly had no more problems after they stopped using this cable and went back to the old one. I even swapped that cable out again just to be sure, and yes, "Cannot write to last block of device." It wasn't totally useless as it did complete some data transfers successfully, but I can't trust it. This was with an external SSD and I bought a 3ft. Cable.
