I am re-entering the world/hobby of calligraphy. This set was suggested to me by friends, illustrators and artists as a good set to restart my studies. The included pens need to be prepped before use (I use an old toothbrush and a drop of dish soap), but they are smooth and won't scratch the paper. The slanted holder is snug (it holds tight to the springs) but is a bit thin in diameter for my liking. A simple solution is to add the rubberized pen holder that I use with my Rotring ink liner pens. This is an inexpensive kit with everything you need including ink to get you started.
